    NAOS Reminders

    Hello Homeowner,

“We hope you're enjoying the summer season in our beautiful community.   As part of our shared commitment to preserving the natural beauty of Sierra Highlands, we'd like to remind everyone about the importance of maintaining the Natural Area Open Space (NAOS) between your homes. These protected areas are essential for conserving native plants and wildlife, and they contribute to the unique desert landscape we all value.

Over the past several months, you may have noticed our landscaping team working in the NAOS areas throughout the community. One of their key tasks has been the removal of desert blooms that have been encroaching into these protected spaces and neglected for many years.   Overgrown vegetation,  especially when dry, can become a serious fire hazard during the hot Arizona summers.  Even though NAOS areas are protected and intended to remain in a natural state, it is still critical to ensure they are kept free from overgrowth and fire hazards.

Some of the desert brush and sage between and behind our homes have become quite overgrown and dried out, increasing the risk of fire. Homeowners are responsible for maintaining the NAOS areas within their property boundaries, and this includes:

Trimming overgrown desert brush or sage within your NAOS (while not removing it entirely)

Removing and properly disposing of any dead vegetation or trees in these areas

Creating a defensible space around your home—up to 5 feet of cleared area can significantly reduce fire risk

Ensuring no yard waste or debris is dumped into NAOS areas

Reporting any overgrowth or concerns to the HOA for review

Together, we can help protect our community and maintain the natural beauty that makes Sierra Highlands such a special place to live.

If you have any questions or would like more information about NAOS guidelines, please contact Vision Management.”

    Thank you,

    Martha, Amy, and Maria
